My photoblog ....

Hello ,

Since I am not much of a writer I choose to make a photo blog instead of telling stories about what I am doing here all the time ..... and to be honest I do not have too much time to write every day .... uploading photo's is so much easier for me.

The first two weeks of my time in Antigua Guatemala I took some Spanish lessons, and tried to prepare myself for teaching the children in the school in San Mateo , a little village somewhere in the mountains next to Antigua. It takes me about 35 minutes "chicken bus ride" every day to arrive in San mateo. It is a very poor , small town....

I started teaching there on the 15the of January , when the regular school system started as well. The project I am in "Esperanza y Amor" runs in the afternoon from 2pm until 5pm. I have 15 girls "niñas" in my class between 8 and 12 years old. I help them for about 1 hour with their homework and after that we start making jewelry from recycled materials and other artworks, this for about 2 more hours....

In the weekends I enjoy myself wondering around in Antigua (taking pictures) , or I go out on a trip to other villages or to the cost , nearby Antigua.
